Junior Machinist Job description

In this role, you will gain valuable experience operating and maintaining various machines used in metalworking. You will work under the guidance of senior machinists, learning the trade and developing your skills.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate various machine tools, such as CNCs, lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to fabricate and repair metal parts according to blueprints and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to understand machining requirements.
• Perform precise measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools to ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances.
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools and work holding devices for machining operations.
• Monitor machines during operation, making adjustments as needed to optimize performance and maintain quality.
• Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications, identifying and reporting any defects.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols.
• Assist senior machinists with various tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• A strong desire to learn and a mechanical aptitude.
• Basic understanding of machining principles helpful.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and work instructions.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting, standing, and using hand tools.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
